Factors Affecting Farmers’ Environment-Friendly Fertilization Behavior in China: Synthesizing the Evidence Using Meta-Analysis

Excess fertilization is a major cause of agricultural environmental pollution. However, different studies attribute farmers’ behavior to factors, hindering theoretical and empirical development. Using meta-analysis 64 on Chinese behavior, this study first systematically collects, combines, analyzes the existing identify key influencing factors that may affect environment-friendly (FEFB) in China. A meta-regression analysis further applied explore how effects identified have changed over time. The results showed include gender, health status, risk attitude, family size, farm concern, social norms, cadre policy propaganda. Over time, influence propaganda stable; norms gradually strengthens; attitude weakens. Although household income proportion no significant effect, their increases changes positively significantly time; hence, they become important future.
